Ketun kallon valkaisu / Whitening a fox skull

Sain tämän punaketun kallon viimekuussa eräältä kaverilta joka oli sen jo pitempään omistanut valmiiksi putsattuna. Kallo ei kuitenkaan ollut kovin hyvin puhdistettu; ahtaissa raoissa oli edelleen lihajäämiä (ei kuitenkaan haissut), ja aivokoppa ja nenäontelo olivat sotkuiset. Luun väri oli paikoitellen harmahtava.
Niinpä upotin koko komeuden peroksidiin uimaan alle vuorokaudeksi.

"I got this red fox skull on last month from one of my friends who had it. It was already cleaned, but not too well; on narrow spots on the skull there was still some meat left (it didn't smell, though), and braincase and nasal cavity were dirty. Color of the bone was rather dark and grayish on some places.
So I put it into peroxide liquid for less than 24h."

Kun nostin kallon pois peroksidista, pesin sen perusteellisesti lämpimällä vedellä ja fairyllä. Noukin pinseteillä pehmentyneet lihajäämät irti ja annoin kallon kuivua.

"Once I took the skull out of peroxide, I washed it completely with warm water and dishwashing liquid. I used tweezers to pull out all the softened flesh and dirt. Then I let it dry."
